Anyway to make a wireless router/pci-card no lag in games?

I have a new wilress router (Linksys, G) and a Linksys G card.

I have been through my share of routers (one a storm took out, another a firmware upgrade when foul, and one just stopped working!)

I can hardwire it to my PC, but I'd rather not, because the only network card I have in my PC is integrated into my mobo, and I don't want to risk anything electrical getting striaght to my mobo in anyway, if that makes sense.

With a decent wireless setup it shouldn't give lag in games. And indirectly you are wiring everything in your PC to your mobo, so using the regular cable options is safe. (or, not more dangerous then any other)

The router is downstairs in the basement, so I guess if I moved it upstairs it'd fix it.
