Was just wondering when Compact flash and Sony Memory Sticks where going to hit the +5GB mark, anyone have any timeline information?

Well they have 4Gig's now, so the next step would be 8Gig for them if anything.

You can even find 12GB and 16GB compact flash cards from Sandisk if you're a) willing to shell out the dough, and b) willing to wait for them to begin shipping.

12GB Compact Flash - $629.95 (Estimated arrival: November)
16GB Compact Flash - $849.99 (Estimated arrival: November)

(BTW, don't think B&H Photo is some kind of fly-by-night operation... They've got a 9.32 lifetime rating on ResellerRatings, and I've bought from them before)

the sandisk extreme IV should be out soon, even in the 16GB size. It pretty much puts anything in its size class to shame.

"Fremont, California, August 31st, 2006 ? Pretec, the world record keeper of highest capacity flash memory cards of CF card (12GB, March 2004), USB Flash Drive (8GB, January 2005), SD card (4GB, July 2005) and MMC (4GB, September 2005), has now released 8GB SD card, the highest capacity SD card in the world." -dpreview.com
