OK, it isn't very systematic, but it is interesting that Vista doesn't seem to be much more secure than XP. In fact most of the points on which Vista scores better are because of Windows defender bocking things like Spyware, so for power users with decent 3rd party security software the difference is even smaller.

First thing I noticed, once I deactivated UAC and poked around the Vista registry some, was how similar Vista and XP are.
 
The largest improvement to Vista is the driver model. No more kernel mode drivers..yeeehaaaawww.
