did anyone ever hear of the 830LR

With the cost of a few proven performers hovering at or below $100.00, I would suggest that you spend the money on an 8KHA+, or Shuttle's variant with the KT266A chipset. I think that this avenue would possibly save you some grief down the road. You will find much better support on this forum for one of the more popular boards.

That mobo is a variant of the ECS k7s5a, which is a very popular motherboard. I would buy the ECS one, if you are going to get one. It has onboard lan, allows you to use either DDR or SDRAM, comes with an AMR modem, and is just over $60. I have one and love it. The only overclocking is with the front side bus, but that works good on my Duron 750 running at 1 gig...
