well first off i want to say hi to everyone

secondly i am a newbie and was hoping one of you guys can help me get started. i was looking arround but didnt see anything for what i have specifically and im scared to do something wrong.

i have:
AMD Phenom X4 9850 Quad Core Processor
XFX nForce 750a SLI Motherboard
4 1gig(only 3 of them are being recognized.)
160gig maxtor HD
running windows xp
i had a video card(when installed the computer would not give out any signal)

can anyone give me a newbie tutorial on overclocking what i have?

thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to post.

any thread that shows me what i should do once i download it. im at school right now trying to lear some stuff so i can put to work when i get home

Switch to advanced mode and go to the performance section. Try increasing your multiplier by 0.5x increments while running a multithreaded version of prime95 (like 25.6) in the background in stress test mode. Let it run for about 10 minutes for each step you increase until you either crash or the test errors out. Try again at that point with slightly increased vCore. Do that until you hit one of the following limits:
1) Thermal. Try to keep your core temp under 65C. Under 60C is better.
2) Voltage. Try to keep your core voltage under 1.45V. Under 1.40V is better.
3) Frequency. It's possible that you'll get to a point where neither voltage or anything else will help.

sorry if im being a pain. if i go with 64bit vista would all my settings still be useful? also just to make sure got this right i increase multiplier by .05 increments until it fails, once it fails i increase the vcore slightly until it gives me a successful test again. once it gives me another successful test i start increasing the multiplier until it fails again... is that right?

So here is a great thread to restate a concern, opinion, w/e.
How come there is no how to for the AM2/AM2+? I would write one up, but I have never played with the AM2/AM2+.

ok is this were i ask how to get more out of my com it started out at 2500mhz and this ai as far as i can go

How stable is that at 3013MHz? With my 9850 I could get it just above 3000MHz and it was ok for day to day stuff and would run 3DMark 06, but anything over 2900MHz would give a failed core or BSOD running Prime95. These aren't great CPU's for clocking. A stable increase of 400MHz when my Phenom II 940 gives a stable increase of 800MHz +
