Stutter during game play

So recently while playing team fortress two my computer would suddenly freeze, the screen will go black, the sound skips, and it goes on for about 5-8 seconds. Then the game continues and everything is normal again.

It has happened 3 times already over a period of 3 days so I am getting a little worried and wondering if anyone has any idea what the problem is.
