core i7 overheating

hey guys i have a bit of a problem i have a core i7 920 which was stock and while running dvdfab my temps were running 100c!!!!! then of couse computer shut down and now when i run dvd fab with the cpu underclocked cpu will not go past 5% and temps are still running in the mid 50s i ahve a new cooler on the way but any ideas on how long the performance will stay like this? thanks

nevermind looks like the factory intel paste dried up a little arctic silver and its all good! thanks anyways!
