Hey guys. Just registered, hello.

I had a new computer 1 month ago and never had much problems since then.
But my computer shuts down after 1-2 hours of skyrim. It's really annoying cuz its a new computer. I didn't experience shutdowns with other games (maybe because of not playing 1-2 hours).

Video Card : Asus Gtx 470
Processor : Amd FX x8 8150
Psu : Thermaltake 700w Litepower

Never did overclock.

And i researched a little bit about this. And ran some tests according to it.

I ran furmark benchmark 1680x1050 with no aa. %100 fan speed. My gpu heated to 84 celcius degrees top.

I did prime95 test, cpu didn't heat above 58 celcius.

I did them together (infinite furmark test), thinking it was about psu
and in 3-4 min my gpu made 101 celcius. I didnt want to risk it and closed the program.

Now i don't know what causes it. Btw when it shuts down, i can't open it without unplugging the power cable from computer (thats another reason why i thought it was about psu).

Please help :(

101c is pretty dang hot, try blowing out the cooler on that card?

Actually, it never goes up to 101 in games. In skyrim, i never saw it going beyond 80. just benchmark pushed it really hard. And i read that this card's max temp is 105. But i'll check anyway:)

Furmark is very unrealistic. 80 degrees is fine for gaming. But what fan speed is it running for those temps? The 470 is a very hot running card.. Your CPU temps are fine for the moment. Just don't try to OC. Your temps are at/near their limit already. (For the CPU).

I'd give the 470 a good clean out. What card specifically? Do you have a link? Only 1 month old suggests to me the 470 is used? Or did you buy the system pre-built?

We need a little more info on your system. Motherboard, Case, RAM, Hard drive/SSD? Just to cover all the bases..

You can run Unigine Heaven in a window and have GPUz's sensors page going at the same time. That's what I would do.
It's not quite as large a load as full screen, but it's close.

Actually i said its new because i changed all the parts except video card. I bought it in November 2010. Here is a review about it : http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1287/1/

My motherboard : http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A99X_EVO/

My case:http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?S=1321&ID=1877

My ram: Patriot Gamer 2 Series, 8GB (4x2) DDR 3. I don't actually remember what mhz is it. So i uploaded a pic from cpu-z. I couldnt understand actually, i hope you can. http://i49.tinypic.com/15r18i1.png

My hard drive: Seagate 3.5 1 Tb Barracuda Sata 3.0 64Mb Cache 7200Rpm

Edit:
Btw i did unigine heaven test at these settings :http://i49.tinypic.com/v8351h.png

And i monitored it with gpu-z. Here is the max readings (opened gpu-z first time with this heaven test): http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/12/08/13/5d.png

Well i've tried to clean it today. Its not that dusty and i dont have compressed air. So i blowed it with a blow dryer. I'm getting compressed air asap.

But you think that its just temp? my pc didnt shut down even in 101 c. Isn't it possible this is a different issue?

Well, i dont have that multimeter thingy :( and today, when playing skyrim, i alt-tabbed, gpu heat went down to 49 or something, i alt-tabbed back, played 10 sec and it shut down again. I think this means its not about gpu. I'm almost certain its psu, but isn't thermaltake litepower 700w enough? When i bought the parts, guys there told me its enough for both cpu and gpu :( you think its broken i assume?

Thanks guys. I'll be informing you with latest news if something happens :)
