I have a 1090t on an MSI 890fxa-gd65/windows7 64 premium/8 gig muskin blackline 1600/coolermaster hyper 212 evo on the cpu(2nd 120mm fan added to the radiator as a push/pull config)/nzxt phantom full tower with all 7 fan slots filled/1-128 crucial 128g ssd/2-WD 500GB blackline 7200/ati hd6870 1gb for now.Want to know the best way to do it through the mobo not interested in doing through the CCC.

I have a msi fxa890-gd70 it should be close to yours. I had a 1045t in it. I went back to the 960t. The best it will do according to msi control center is around 130-135 watts. it would shut down if I pushed it harder. The 1045t would only go to 3100 base with 3300 turbo. Then it would the watt wall. The same processor does 3601 base and 4017 turbo in a m4a78-e (DDR2) motherboard that board was made for a 9550BE (140watts) and antec neo 550 and EVGA gtx 460 . The msi board is powered by a visiontek 1000. The 960T (4 cores only, unlocking is a no go) runs at 3900 base and 4100 turbo. The control center says it is pulling 125-130 watts. It is also running a hd 5750 870 core speed, 1220 memory clock and a 6770 870 core speed and 1175 memory clock, crossfired. I cool them with 120mm fan blowing towards the mother board. All of the exposed memory memory chips are cover by copper vga memory heat sinks. I cooked a memory chip on the back side Diamond 6770 overclocking without them. If I could find DDR5 Vram I would repair it. The two systems are are about the same for gaming. I do the physiX games with the nvidia gpu and all the others with AMD gpu. Just for snicks I put in hd 6750 with the GTX 460 that bid on and won before checking to see if it had a crossfire connector. But it folds. I did not load the AMD drivers. Nvidia no likey when you do dat. I get another 1000 PPD. Any body want a DDR3 6750 you cant crossfire and does not overclock? It pulls less than 75 watts. Hey come anybody out there? Oh I see, you got 7750 instead.
Short answer check power in msi control center, if close 125-130 watts pick the 5 fastest cores go for a higher clock speed. I got the 960t do 4350 on 3 cores. Not as usefull as 4 at 3990. But it was stable there. BTW core 0 on the 1045t will do 4275 stable. The slowest, core 5 does 4020 with max safe core volts. Things get unstable as more cores are added.
