It's too bad this wasn't happening about a year and a half ago when I was active duty EOD. I could have gotten you just about whatever you needed in that department. lol Do you guys have a DRMO on your base? If so, maybe they could help you out...either on the sly or through their programs used to sell items.

Hmmm....how about something like these? There's the plain jane version or, for a bit more money, the polished ones. Personally, having polished many 20 mil casings over the years for gifts and whatnot, I think the extra money is well worth the time saved! lol I'll PM you the links to where you can buy these.

Great Minds Think Alike

Crazy, I was just thinking about doing almost the same build as this. I have modeled a really basic case in CAD to see if things will fit. I have actually oriented my mobo vertically and plan on running liquid cooling. I was thinking about running dual 240mm Black Ice Stealth rads on either side of the case with a bitspower 150mm res with the bitspower pump top and swiftech mcp-655b pump. Where did you get your back I/O panel from? For some reason I can't upload pictures right now, so PM me and I can send them over.

Here are some of the parts I am looking at if it helps.

Nice find pcpyro!! If he doesn't mind polishing those up they'll do just fine. Or he can just stick with the stock look. For anyone looking to use any kind of brass though, keep in mind that brass does tarnish, so once you get it to the look you want, I suggest coating it with a spray on clearcoat (urethane doesn't yellow with age). I'd go glossy if you polished it, and semi gloss or non-gloss if you leave them as-is.

I skimmed this thread, pretty cool project and it looks like things came out pretty good from what I saw. You should do a finished mod thread, similar to what navig does on his finished products - puts the final product and some of the progression in the first post, so its easier to read without going thru multiple pages.

Really cool. :)

Well i know its been awhile with out up dates sorry ive been creazy busy at work. But im Looking at starting another ammo case, going to make it perfect this time around. And not going to be putting a DVD drive in it... and going to water cool this one :) so once i can get ahold of a nother can ill start posting. Not sure what im going to do with the other can yet...

Cool project:cool:
I've got some ammo cans in the garage...makes me think :D
But the 20mm can I have has a big dent in the side.
Wonder if I could fit a HTPC inside a small 50 cal can? The handle would make transport easy when taking it over to a friends place to watch stuff...

awesome

I have quite a few ammo cans back home. This seems like something I would want to do.

Hey a quick question what did you use to cut the 20mm can? I was thinking about trying to build a tower out of a can I have and was just curious. Your tower is awesome.

Welcome to the Forums Ghostmaker and Holy Necro. This is a 4 year old thread you're bringing back to life. I highly doubt OP will reply. He hasn't visited us since 2012.

That's a shame I really was enjoying this build thread. Wonder what happened? I'm actually contemplating doing this now after reading this thread. Plenty of old ammo cans around these parts for sure, wonder what the smallest military grade metal ammo can would be, it'd be fun to build an AIO with a raspberry pi and a touchscreen built into the case.

I'm sure you could go as far as an itx low power LAN box. If you do this for the love of God, please make a build thread! I would love to see it.
