Is it the kind completely disables itself once the Flash "expires" (i.e. write failure because a chip actually has no writes left), though? IIUC that's typical of Intel's controllers, rather than just reverting to read-only.

Eh, still on the cheaper end when looking at 480-512GB SSDs, even SATA drives - and it's bound to be faster than most if not all of those.
