I was wondering how much did the upgrade cost ya, the mobo + CPU (+ RAM)?
And what PSU's are those?

$460 for cpu
$210 for mobo
$200/e but the ram I already had 2x256 corsair pc3200c2 and 2x256 pc 3500 LII mushkin
$399 9800p

PSU are 550w highly modded antec truecontrol
2x200w meanwell 15v PSU's...

So is your cpu not dead after all?
Edit - just read over at xtreme that is was merely condensation - glad to hear it!

what were the 15v PSU's for? Peltiers?

what was the 550w Antec modded for?

glad to hear your cpu only had a case of condensation.

one 15v runs my vapochill PE 404a modded unit..

another my 80/172w tec for chipset..

550w is modded for 12v/5v/3.3v rails becasue allthough they already can be adjusted a little they dont hold where i would like.

wow!

I see. Just remembered that the Vapochill requires a separate power supply.

wo! just saw at ES that you broke 28k!

edit: Man, that was just a joke from someone. :p

Just saw how the 9800Pro died. Condolences.

But you got to 25.8k, that would put you quite a few places higher.

edit: before previous edit I asked about the measures taken to prevent condensation, wondering whether the 9800 Pro was harder to insulate. also asked about the load temps on CPU. I then found this info at xtreme, but qwerty57 saw my questions and answered anyway.

na condensation seems to be coming from inside the pcu heatspreader. unlike the P4's which have a small hole to let out pressure these dont. so going from ambeit or higher to -40c on the cpu causes a massive pressure change and also alot of moisture..

the prommy is a MACH II the super cooling unit load temps well under -20c as for the 9800p it was coated with conforming spray them liquid eletrictape then neoprene/dieletric grease..

would it be possible to remove the IHS and drill a small hole in it, then place it back on?

btw what is the best radeon to get if u want to reach max oc ?

dont they use different ram ? i heard something about 2.2 and 2.86ns ram

ati originals are great some powercolors had 2.2ns hynix but they are rare...

wouldnt it be insane to get one of these 2.2 and vmod them ? :)

but i think gpu clock is much more important right ?

how many 3dmarks 20mhz ram do ? :)

20-30mhz more or 400-411 would add 400 marks Id say... 575/410 at 260 1:1 2600mhz would yeild 27,000 in 2k1 put it that way ;)
