So I am getting an AMD Phenom ii x4 955 Black Edition CPU.
I plan on overclocking the Cpu & maybe even the Gpu later on.

I need help/advice picking the motherboard & GPU.

Here are some motherboards I thought looked good, what's your opinion on them? Yay, Nay? Maybe you have a better recommendation?

ASUS M4A78T-E

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO

For the GPU's I think I may get 2 XFX HD 4850 1GB,

I am open to all recommdations for GPU's keep'em coming. I want to crossfire them.

the M4A785TD-V Evo will handle crossfire... but to a very poor extent, one slot is at 16 lanes and the other runs a 4 lanes, not even worth adding a second card in that one...

i would go with the ASUS M4A78T-E with your plans, better chipset for that phemon, it also can support crossfire a decent speeds

Thanks for the reply! do you have any motherboard recommendations besides the ones I've listed?

Thanks!

So would you recommend that one? because I can get an open box one at newegg for 135.

I see you decided against an SLI mobo ,why are you so inclined to run multi GPU setups,in most cases running single powerful GPU is much better, multi GPU means more heat , more power , and sometimes not best driver support.

790X chipset boards are good bang for a buck , they do support crossfire.I can recommend a single 5850.

The only other board I'd recommend is the Gigabyte 790XT-USB3 but only because that series has a long history so the BIOS should be well developed. It's not much different than the ASUS ASUS M4A79XTD EVO, though, and considering the price I'd probably go with the ASUS right now.

I, too, would stick to a single video card instead of using Crossfire. But if you can only afford one lower-priced card now, well, I can understand that too ... ;)
