Just wondering if the new widescreen monitors are considered HighDef. More specifically, the BenQ FP202W (20" Widescreen @ 1680x1050).

Thanks in advance :).

High Definitation specification is defined as a display which can display 1920x1080 lines.

Well some hdtvs are at 1288x720, so i think that is the threshold for hdtv. Though I consider most computer monitors hd. They are have high enough quality picture.

pretty much everything is said, but i'll recap to make things straightfoward:

"hd" comes in two resolutions in the tv industry,
720p (1280x720 or 1280x768 on lcd/plasma)
1080i/p (this is sometimes referred to as "true" hd)

hdmi is basically a dvi-d video +5.1 audio cable combined, there is no difference in video quality between dvi and hdmi
