I have an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard. My case has two sets of USB2.0, and two header cables. I also have an internal USB SATA/Memory card reader I need a third USB header for that. I understand I risk severe damage to my Motherboard if I plug it into 1394a, or what ever FireWire is called, but could I plug it into the USB 3.0 header? If so, which pins do I connect it to? Please and thank you.

Your USB3 header is a 20 pin out and a usb2 pin out is not compatible.
I think your only choice is to give up one of the rear connections and use the header for the memory card reader.
