ASUS Crosshair quick question

Just a quick question. Better shown in the picture attached below. I have the lower connector connected to PSU but do i also have to connect the upper one to the PSU also?

Its running good so far. Thanks in advance

Yes, you remove the 4 pin plug from the lower connector and plug a 8 pin connector there and a 4 pin connector to the upper connection.
