What about the Duron contest?? This only gives us 7 days to gang everyone together to try to pull this off.... Me thinks that it would be better to start the middle of May. say the 10th, and go through the 24th.. that will give us more time to coordinate out efforts

Back in the Folding 1 days, we did something like this. An unnamed member from [H]ardOCP with some fairly serious horsepower named himself "[H]ardOCP" and joined our team in an attempt to tarnish the #1 spot on our team. To counter this, a few of us folded under the name "Rage3D." He also posted on our boards, and we had some fun. Good times.

Yes the contest runs until the 18th. And i really do think you'll need more than 10 days to squash this monster. He's at about 25000 pts now, and he'll be at around 50000 pts by then. And by the end of the 10 days he'll have over 55000 pts. So if you think you can amass an army to crunch out 5500 pts a day, then you should be able to get upto him. I think your best bet would be to tell norgs that he's in trouble of losing first, and ask him to up his folding to shut this guy down (Of course you should also mention that he should mark it as Team32 )

I did a little bit of comparison between the "How much have we got folding? " thread, and the weekly results on statsman... Keep in mind this is inaccurate at best, but it seems as if the average weekly ouput per GHz is 24...

So, if the goal was just to catch the overclockers.com team up to the Rage3D team in weekly output, so we stay ahead of them in the stats, we would need to add 139GHz of folding power.

To build a massive folder to compete directly with 1920...How? we would need to get together 272GHz...

My sample set was only 18 users, so if someone wanted to take the time to add up the stats from the entire "How much have we got folding? " thread, they would have alot more accurate results...

It also depends on whether the mhz is an Intel or an AMD folder, and what protiens you get.

Yep. That's why a larger sample set would be alot better. And thats why the average is only useful for large calculations, in a comparative situation..

OCAU calculated that they need 100 XPs to catch [H].
We need about 139Ghz yes? So why not start a thread where we try and pull in as many newer users and their GHz as possible? Of course 139GHz is only a very rough estimate, perhaps 145Ghz or 150GHz would be a safer total.

I'm one step closer to getting a lab full of comps folding at my school. It could be a while, though. My proxy to the university administration got confused about the site ( BTW, foldingathome.org is a real site) and had been putting it off since last quarter. At least she can't touch my XP.
I can't wait to see her response when I ask if they can fold under my name.
