Hiya guys I've been looking at getting some RAM for my new build, just wanted some opinions from you guys before I buy.

I've already purchased:

i5 4670K CPU

AsRock Z87E-ITX Motherboard
Z87E-ITX(s).jpg

(The Z87e-itx above supports dual channel DDR3 up to 2933+(OC) )

For the moment im going to be running stock, but as soon as i get my cooling sorted I hope to overclock my CPU at some point, so I'm kind of looking for the best or recommended budget ram which might be best for my scenario.

I've been looking at purchasing the following ram, i.e the cheapest I can find below. Can anyone tell me if the the following would be good enough for the job:

- Crucial BLT2CP8G3D1608DT1TX0CEU 16GB (2x 8GB) Ballistix Tactical Memory
1600Mhz

- Patriot 16GB Viper 3 Dual Channel Black Mamba Memory Kit - Black (PV316G160C9K) 1600Mhz

-G.Skill 16GB (2x 8GB) Dual Channel Ares Series Memory Kit (DDR3 1333, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v, Intel XMP Extreme Memory... 1600mhz

- Crucial BLT2CP8G3D1608DT2TXR... Tracer 16GB kit (8GBx2), Ballistix Smart Tracer 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800...

I'm ultimately going to be putting them in a nice little Bitfenix Prodigy mini-itx case:

I just want to know which of those memory modules you guys would go with... is 1600Mhz sufficient for my 4670k i5 where over clocking is concerned, I see Intel recommends DDR3-1333/1600..any ideas please; will i see any gains buying higher hertz RAM?

Any reason you need 16GB over 8 GB?

Hiya,

In answer to your question it's because until I decide what graphics card to go for my board will be using its on board graphics for the moment unless I stick my old power hungry XFX 4890 OC in there..

My current machine has been running 8gb and it has peeked a few times when I've been running games and backed out to my desktop , or whilst running things like ccleaner and other apps like photoshop here and there, all be it very rarely for whatever reason.

But other than that it will purely be a nice to have.

I would of used my old DDR3 8gb but this is a mini itx board which only has x2 slots and the old ram is 4x 2Gb ...

Plus the difference I've seen in pricing on those particular Ram that I've mentioned is £15 -20 difference on the 8GB versions so I figure why not :)

I thought I would ask, because for a gaming machine 8GB is plenty.

My best advice, watch for sales. You can get good memory on the cheap that way, and pcpartpicker.com lists prices from a lot of different places.

Yeah thats cool, ask away..;)

Do you think those ram i mentioned above would be suitable enough?

Yeah, I would go with any good name 1600MHz set that's CL9 and 1.5V.
