I got a reply from G.skill USA about my questions regarding the compatibilty of my Athlon II X4 630 cpu and the G.Skill ARES F3-1600C9S-4GAB/F3-1600C9D-8GAB rams.

Dear Customer

The Athlon II CPU may not be capable of DDR3-1600, so you may need to run it at DDR3-1333 8-8-8-24 timings. This would actually be quicker than DDR3-1600 and without the added stress on the CPU memory controller.

Thank you

Has anyone tried this?

It would be about the same thing, maybe 1-2% difference.
Tighter timings makes you run quicker (as long as you're still stable and not too low ;) ). 1333 MHz is fast enough for not bottlenecking you in 99% of the dataflow you could reach (with softwares, games, etc.).

I would try what they recommend :)

It's just because 1333 is standard memory controller clock and 1600 is already overclocking for these cpus. No one will guarantee overclocked settings. If you wish to run this memory @1600 then try a bit higher CPU-NB voltage ( maybe +0.1V ).
As it was already mentioned, 1333 8-8-8 will be nearly as fast as 1600 9-9-9 on this platform. You can also try 1333 7-7-7 or 7-8-7.

So.. they are being conservative. That's understandable. I'll try that. thanks
