I was so nervous when nakified my core. Then again no one said to use floss or anything else besides a razor blade. Took some time on my part because I didn't want to damage it, and 3 hours later I got my naked core also dropping 6C or so off temps. Slapped my XP-120 back on her and I was ready to rumble I should really lap my XP-120.
When I turned my X2 into a convertible, temps dropped about 8C, but my max OC didn't really increase. Still worth it though cause I can turn the fans down that much more.
thats one of the first things i heard about people doing with regards to removing a64 ihs back in the clawhammer days but havent heard anyone use it since. ive recommended it to a few people over the past couple months in ihs removal threads as its a good way to get the ihs off without cutting the pcb or transistors up. sometimes it can just take alot of floss and time to get one off (have heard of people using fishing line once they get the ihs started with a razor blade as well but its a bit thicker than the dental floss and can be hard to get under it)
Really tempting!!!!! Maybe my 3700+ needs air to breathe.....
But I think that 8C isn't a sure thing... The drop maybe 2-3 C or even 15 C as I've seen some time ago in this forum...
Im not worried about poppin' the IHS, im just worried about seating of HSF >_< I do -NOT- want a crushed core.. thats the only thing im scared of Spose, once my AM2 rig gets here, ill pop my venice's clothes off and give it a whirl..
