Consistent crashes, artifacts, & confusion

It was the video card. get it checked at that shop you mentioned.

if you see artifacts and the s**t is crashing during load you are looking at a gpu issue.

Especially little squares on the screen and a hard lock/total system crash without an error message... That was classic GPU instability for me... Especially old school ATI.

Late model Nvidia for me, were app crashes, including the "Display driver stopped responding and recovered" pop-up on the bottom right of the screen (or similar) with Unigine Heaven...
