Debating selling my new gaming rig

With that said it is entirely possible to build powerful budget builds. I would argue that the budget builds of today far surpass the budget builds from the late '90s.

That's what I did. Picked up a 6C/12T i5-10400/MSI H410 combo for $210, added a used RX 570 for $106, installed it in my $50 old Corsair case with my $24 450W EVGA PSU, and installed my $82 500GB NVMe M.2 drive. Runs nice and fast, quiet, with no AGESA nonsense. Including the cost of my CM Hyper 212 EVO it comes to around $500.

i just built a very similar machine for my daughter, i5-9400+board+16gb ram $220 then a $60 case, evega psu, strix gtx 970 i think i tallied it up to right around $500 as well. Should run everything we play plenty well enough, only reason im upgrading her from the i5-4570 she has now is warzone absolutely murders quad core cpu's it runs at 100% and even discord wont work in the background.

Why not just sell/trade away the 3090? Maybe try to get $2000 cash and a 3060ti/3070.

Yeah I built an ITX system with an i5-9400 and 1660 Ti in early 2020 and then later sold it on ebay. The i5-9400 is 6C/6T while the i5-10400 is 6C/12T.

You could probably sell everything at a discount and make up the loss with the profit from the 3090. Whether you sell items here or locally.

As stated above, you could always use it for F@H or crypto when you don't have the personal down time to game. That keeps your beast in reserve for when you find those moments and want to tear up the bad guys. Nothing like going into a game with no handicaps. Double win!
