It may make sense to install Windows 8.1 from scratch but if you spent a lot of time configuring Windows 8.0, you may think twice about going to Windows 8.1 just yet - as it is closer to a complete reinstall than an update,

If you have older programs running - they may run fine under Windows 8.0 but not Windows 8.1.

So to disable this:

Get Windows 8.1 for Free.jpg

Go to Control Panel > Uninstall a program > View installed updates > Scroll down to and uninstall KB2885699:
