EK full board block - is this the type of quality I'm to expect?

Hey all, so in prep for my new x99 build, I ordered a CPU block and a mobo block. As you can see in the pictures, the CPU block is polished/lapped to a mirror finish...as you'd expect for sitting on a flat die.

CPU block:

Mobo block:

However, the mobo block is not. You can see by the picture that it is basically rough cut with many pits and valleys despite going on a flat chipset die. Is this just normal, or was this a legit processing error?

A mobo block sits on a thermal pad. It's not critical by any means. Your not talking .0005" tolerances.

No worries, and it's a MUCH less wattage per area. It's fine.

This one specifies mounting it on the bare die itself with some TIM of some sort. Of course if it were on thermal pad (like the included VRM cooler) then I wouldnt have an issue. But not the case here.
