Hello everyone I have decided to build a PC instead of buying the next gen consoles. I have never done PC gaming before due to never having a computer that could handle games. I went into this build wanting to spend 500$ and would be ok with playing recent releases on medium settings.

After visiting a friend with a high end rig and watching Laura Croft's sexy *** on Ultra everything and that awesome tress effex on I just don't think medium is going to cut it for me. So here are some new goals. Run most recent titles on high/ultimate at 1080p and have some wiggle room to overclock and continue my goals for the next 2-3 years.

So here is what I got. Please be brutally honest with my choices as I am uneducated on the subject and there is only so much research I can do.

Case : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119227

PSU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028

MOBO : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514

CPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286

CPU Cooler: To be Determined (Coolermaster?)

GPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127761

RAM : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

HD : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339

I might get a smaller HD as i currently have a 300gb and have used less than 200 of it. I tend to delete most things when i done with them.

In the future I want to OC the CPU and GPU to keep up with games. Also plan on getting another 270x and larger PSU when required.

Thanks all input will be appreciated.

here comes the brutal honesty. the cpu and gpu will not last three years on ultra. maybe 2 but for most games a year from now youre looking at high. for futureproofing and overclocking room id get atleast a 280x or 770 4gb and an 8350 or 4670k. this will keep you in the ultra settings for a while on most games with a bit of overclocking.
i included intel and nvidia in there because i personally prefer them but in the end its up to you. im not gonna yell at you over my preference.
another preference for me. get a wd black. they last a long time and have a 5 year warranty.
Dont skimp on your power supply. itll cost you more money when you want to upgrade down the line especially if youre going with power hungry AMD.
not so much a preference as much a general consensus. get a case with usb 3.0. itll add to the futureproofness(lol) by giving you the newest ports.
whats your price range on this.

I would be happy with high settings as well on future games. I'm not too focused on having everything maxed out.

The 6300 Highly OC will not be adequate for games even when running two 270x's? I didn't get a really nice psu now because i was planning on getting another 270x and doing some overclocking so i would eventually need a 750w or higher. I know it would be optimal to get a nice one now but my budget for the tower was around 700. What is the gw black?

Id rather lower expectations then raise my budget. Besides im used to console graphics and this is my first build. No reason to go all out.

okay fair enough then for the most part your build should be fine if youre okay with high i would still get a newer case with usb 3.0 and wd black is a more reliable hard drive. it has a 5 yr warranty rather then 2 and imo its just generally better. with 2 270x you should be good with a mid point of ultra and high some games on some off. and i was saying the power supply should be better because then when you decide to upgrade you wouldnt have to upgrade the power supply along with it and it will end up being cheaper in the long run. i just want you to be aware that nothing will run perfectly but it will still run pretty good with that. what is the total cost right now

Edit: mind high would be after a year and certain games now ie. crysis 3

I strongly suggest getting at least an R9 280X (or older 7970) with at least 3GB of VRAM. Battlefield 4 already asks for 3GB in it's recommended system specs. We can only expect the minimum recommended RAM to go up and up as time goes by.

Also, it would cost you more money, but you should consider an i5 4670K ($135) and, say, an ASUS Z87-A motherboard ($130). This would be a more powerful combo than what you have in your list.

It's fine if you want to stick with the FX6300 though. Just get a better GPU with more RAM.

If you're not planning Crossfire/SLI at any time grab the GA-970A-UD3P instead of the mobo you have listed.

I would get an EVGA GTX 760 ACX for the GPU instead, with a CX500 PSU (this PSU will do fine for either GPU you choose, unless you plan for SLI/Crossfire).

For a CPU cooler, the Hyper 212 EVO would be my choice for this build.

I would keep the 1TB HDD and then get an SSD later as an upgrade.

REINFORCEMENTS!!! :thup::clap:

Alright well as of right now my build comes out to 760$ and i'm not sure if shipping is included in that yet. I also have to buy a monitor still. Honestly as I sit here i'm wondering if i want to even spend that much as this is my first build.

I'm not really sure where I can go to lower the cost of this rig though. Where could I make some cuts to lower the price?

If you are going to reuse some of your old components you could bring down your costs, then upgrade those parts as needed, later on. List your current parts and perhaps something could be reused.

honestly I spent 2700 on my first rig for a whole I had no idea what I was doing. I went into it headstrong and now I feel confident in about everything I do. Don't judge your price point on experience do it on budget needs and confidence

I game with a 6300 and it takes 5.0 to get it good, your going to have to up the cooling.
if your games are all about the videocards the 212 evo with better fans will do, none of the 120 mm single rads will even come close.

hard drives are fine for storage, you really need an ssd for the operating system, I use a 64 gb ssd for the operating system and an hdd for storage.

Alright So I was talking to a friend and he is currently upgrading and said he would sell me his MOBO and CPU

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128441
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727

They are a bit outdated but were pretty nice during there time. He is asking 125 USD for both and is also throwing in 4gbs of ddr3 ram and a nice but a little worn case. So is this a pretty good deal? Ik this board inst future proof, am2 socket, and the phenom will start to bottleneck soon but it seemed like a good deal.

What do you guys think. Paired with a 270x will it run some new releases pretty smoothly with alright settings (ill be adding 4 more gigs of gskill ddr3 ram)

Also will the Hyper 212 Evo fit this?
