Hi guys and gals! First off this is my first post and my first computer build so please give me slack. I've done my part of research and now I just want some insight on the computer components that I've selected to build my first rig. I am planning on doing some mild overclocking (3.0-3.2 ghz) so please do take that into consideration. The price cuts are around the corner, ie. July/Sept., so I am willing to wait to get a majority of my parts then. Here is a list of the parts I've chosen:

Processor
E6420- Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13Ghz 4MB L2 Cache

MOBO

ASUS P5K ATX LGA775 P35 DDR2 2PCI-E16 3PCI 1PCI-E1 SATA2 Sound GBLAN 1394 Motherboard

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 ATX LGA775 Conroe P965 DDR2 PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 3PCI SATA2 GBLAN Audio Motherboard

ASUS P5N-E SLI Nforce 650I SLI LGA775 Conroe ATX 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 Sound GBLAN Motherboard
** I've chosen 3 boards but there were some mix reviews on some of the boards I've chosen

RAM
Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 DDR2 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit

HSF
Thermalright ULTRA-120 Extreme 6 Heatpipe Cooler LGA775 Heatsink *Fan Not Included*

Extra Fans
2 x Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120MM Cooling Fan 1600RPM 28.0DBA 63.7CFM FDB

Case
Antec Sonata III Black ATX 16IN Mid Tower Quiet Case 3X5.25 2X3.5 4X3.5IN 500W Air Duct 120MM Fan

PSU
Antec Earthwatts 500 watts ( stock)

GPU
BFG GeForce 7900GS OC PCI-E 256MB GDDR3 Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card
** I don't mind having only DX 9 capabilities because I doubt a majority of the games will be only for DX 10

HDD
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 3GB/S 7200RPM 16MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive

Stay away from ATA, it is a dying breed. Go with a SATA hd and DVD drive. The prices are maybe $2 more but in the long run it will save you.

Revision!

Ok, so I've revised my build:

How does this build fair so far?
Would a DS3R or Abit IP35 Pro be other good choices for a MOBO?

I was thinking of replacing the Tri-Cool Fans from the Antec P182 with some more Scythe S-Flex SFF21E. Do you guys think it will be quieter than the Tri-Cool fans??

I replaced all my case fans in my Coolermaster Stacker 830 with Scythe S-Flex "E" fans. They are pretty much dead silent and push loads more air than stock case fans. Its the best purchase I have made.

I bought two of the "F" series fans for the TR Ultra 120 Ex heatsink. I am sure two are overkill, but the "F" series push something like 64CFM and arent really much louder. I would not say its silent, but its like a pindrop compared to my stock Tuniq at full blast... not to mention the Scythe is pushing a lot more air.

The Scythe fans (case and HSF) are probably the best purchase I have made in some time. Its got my approval.

ATA sure isn't dieing. Parrelell ATA might be but not Serial ATA.

before Serial ATA was introduced, ATA was synonymous with IDE; it only later became Parallel ATA so people wouldn't confuse the two. Nowadays, ATA still generally refers to IDE, so I'd agree that it's a dying breed

Back on to topic...

Would the S-Flex fans be more suitable for a quiet computer compared to the Tri-Cool fans?

for the CFM per decibel in the sub-45dB range, scythe fans are as good as it gets. the SFF21F (high flow) scythe fans are audible, but their airflow is even more than the rated spec. if you really want silence, a couple SFF21Es would be the most ideal (virtually silent, good CFM)

According to:
CoreTemp- Core 1 is 35c and Core 2 is 37c
SpeedFan- Core 1 is 20c and Core 2 is 23c

Delta is ~15c

Many have said that Speedfan's readings are wrong since TJunction is only 85c.

I'm currently using TR-Ultra 120 extreme w/S-flex fan and the temps seems pretty high on idle , may be I should re-apply AS5 or let it set in for a bit?

Ambiet temperature is around 20c~.

Other specs include:

1 X intake
2 X outtake
All on low setting.

uGuru reads CPU temp as 29c~33C on idle.

Idle temp looks ok to me. I'd trust Coretemp before anything else. It's impossible to be at or near ambient temp. The true test is load temp.
