Without changing multiplier I have been increasing FSB until 360, changed memory to 1:1 so it works now at 720.
Did nothing with voltage, set to AUTO, Ai-suite shows 1.38-1.40.

When increased FSB to 380 bad things started to happen: I saw RAID broken (???), rscreen resolution changed (???) could not even enter BIOS. When finally (10th attempt) entered BIOS, changed FSB to 360, now boots correctly.

At the moment I am running two Super PI (both 32 mln digits) 100% load, CPU speed 3240 (=9x360), memory - 720 and CPU-Z shows 4-4-4-12, althought I did not try to overclock memory at all (???), CPU temp - 41, system - 35.

Question: has system reached max and I ahould leave it at this level, should I try FSB 370, or do something more fancy? If I stay at this point, how do I test for stability?

Thanks!

EDIT: CPU temp 43 now.. is it still OK?

:welcome:to the forums
you need to change all your voltages off of auto... you can start by changing your vcore to 1.4... another thing is you need to make small steps to your goal and run orthos to make sure your stable....while running orthos the max temp i would want to see would be 65c

I have set 1.4 and 1.9 for memory and making 5 MHz FSB increase. How do I test for stability? Just loading OS enough?

Is it Ok to run several continuous tests at the same time?

ATM one orthos and two prime (both use both cores) are run.

I do not know why, but AI SUite shows voltage 1.34 ... I muself set it to 1.400

Temperature 48-50, FSB 370, multiplier 9 as usual

EDIT:

One of PRIME failed: FATAL ERROR, Rounding was 0.47070... expected less then 0.4 . (???)
Is it because I run several at the same time, or a hardware problem?

sorry i didnt even pay attention to your sig... orthos is a version of prime 95 google orthos and download it, run it overnight... if you run it for a while with no errors increase your clock and do it again...keep doing this until it errors

Here is the download link, http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/beta2.htm. When changing voltages on the P5B-D keep in mind of the vdroop. I'm not sure if the droop is the same for all boards but this is how mine goes. 1.375v = 1.325v actual. 1.4v = 1.35v actual. Seems like its alwayws .5 off. If I were you I would drop the multi down to 8x and see where 400+ FSB takes you.

Still need help..

Just had problems loading at 400x8 = 3,2. Hardly loaded OS, some files not found...

Voltage: CPU = 1.4 (utility shows 1.344), Memory = 1.9, Rest - Auto

Loaded configuration 360x9 = 3,24 Orthos runs for 15 minutes, says everything good. Temperature 53. Is still OK?

I want to go for 400+ FSB. What other voltage I can change? Should I increase CPU voltage? Seems strange that 360x9=3,24 stable, while 400x9 = 3,2 <3,24 does not load OS well. In both cases memory runs less than factory.

May be my RAM is set to 4-4-4-12 for some reason? I could not find how to change CAS latency in BIOS...

hi'
I had the same kind of problem, relax ram timing, it's in the chipset/nothbridge stuffs ;)
don't run on spd, it's too short :(

i686

ps; tat says max OC 3599 with multiplier 8 ...
I wonder what it would say if x 9?
everest says 3.8 :(

I have set up voltages as directed in this topic except for CPU = 1.5, mem = 1.9

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=115217

memory at 1:1 and started to increase FSB from 360 at 10 MhZ. CPU multiplier dropped to 7

Tested on 390, seemed OK, and then switched to 400

Last thing I saw on screen was CPU speed 36,2 GhZ ... did not see anything after that. Reseted BIOS, set again to 390, going to test it this way and may be change multiplier to 8. Any comments?

EDIT: May be its PSU? I managed to almost boot at 8x400 without any crazy voltage changings...

Here is my another post

I think I need a better PSU for overclocking.

I just turned off all media, loaded successfully on 6x400, passed 3d-mark and prime was about to run memtest, reloaded ... woops, forgot no media drive connected ...

turned on my lightscribe DVD, system stops at trying to detect second HDD!!

repeated twice - same.

switched off two fans, and now doing memtest 4 passes of test 5 as infinitevalence recommended at default speed.

I guess I am reseting everything to default and RMAing my Seasonic 12. Can you guys tell me what should I buy for my system instead?

I have that ram. If you read the manual it comes with the voltage it needs is 2.1v

also (unless my chip is special) i ran 1.36ghz at 1.35vcore...stable 8hours orthos... 400x9 style!!
Now im higher 412x9=3.7ghz @1.44vcore:drool: so really try my settings see if they work for you. also make sure your running the ram in spec to start with . i had mine out a wack and hit a wall till i fixed it.

I have these chips:

stock voltage 1.9, and honestly I am a little afraid to turn it up.

If I increase FSB (from 266 to 400 or even to 350), might I need more power? Should 500W be enought?
