Only thing that changed from AMD post was cpu/board/HS

For dualcore and OC the E8400/Xeon3110 is the only CPU to consider, for Quad Intel is still better but AMD has gotten close enough in performance. Power consumption and overclockability is generally better on Intel quads.

Other parts of the system: refer to your AMD thread, the guys there are giving you good advices, but you should consider the E8400 as well, its so damn fast and easy to OC/cool that it cant be disregarded.

Edit, my post crossed with CGRs posting, thats a nice setup as well, E8200 should be able to reach 4GHz, or very close, with reasonably low temperatures.

well would i be better off with a quadcore or would the dual core work better for gaming

Quad brings nothing new to the table as far as gaming is concerned, duals are clocked higher and therefor give you more FPS.

The only game that uses a quad core is supreme commander, as far as I know there aren't any others (maybe fsx but I'm not sure), so unless you play either of those dual core is fine.

well i have never overclocked a computer before so idk exactly how to do that is there any software that makes it easier and info on how high certain cpus can go

All the info you'll ever need on overclock all CPUs out there is on the internet, google some stuff read all you can, then if you still have some question, post it in the proper section and I'm sure you'll get help.

Overclocking is not really something you want to be quick and easy, as there is alot that could go wrong if your not careful. This is why the best way is to know everything ahead of time, and use the BIOs to make your setting changes.
