Not too bad... other then the fact both my rigs are better... I need help

I hear ya, I live alone half the time, and I have 3 computers up and running!

I wanna get this electrician's job I interviewed for. I've been thinking about farming a 10 pack of these little ITX machines and rejoining the F@H team in style.
Need a hobby...again.

Or take those ten machines and start playing the bitcoin lottery.

U.S. Dollar is going to **** anyways!

It's ok, just wait a couple weeks'ish (if rumors are right) and then fill up your cart with an upgrade. :p

thats the problem. I'm itching to upgrade. However I hear the enterprise chips are being delayed so no SR3 Dual love for me. I guess I'll wait until I can get some EP chips with some quad 6xx cards. But damn it hurts my soul to wait :(

PS I heard that the 14th was X79/2011 release date

Sometime in the 3rd week of November is the latest rumor I've seen. I'm excited about it, I have to upgrade with every release for some reason

I'm with ya.. I've built over a dozen machines in the newegg cart just to see if I can afford it... Then I remember refresh cycles and I close it out... My problem now is I keep justifying $50~100 at a time on 775 gear to get into overclocking... At this rate, I'll have no money with which to upgrade!

:sn:sneaky, sneaky indeed...

I got hooked in '73 and believe me, a 38 year addiction isn't going away. Period. I remember one of the most remarkable days of my hobby was when my wife, who absolutely, positively hated computers, came over to look when the first real "web" thing happened (instead of BBSs) and I showed her a shopping web site, Sears I think it was, and suddenly I had permission to upgrade any time I wanted 'cause "can't this thing go any faster" was more important than shoes on the kids feet. I still get a stupid huge grin when I think about it.

quite lucky

I must be one of the lucky, my wife is as ate up with it as I am and was when I met her 15 years ago...we both have multiples in our "rooms" and 2 "cafe" triple screen setups for visitors as well...I have shelves full of parts , pieces , and "museum pc's" , it's quite sickening.................and FUN!!!!

I still hook up the 'ol Commodore Vic 20 , 64 , and TRS 80 for some super exciting "text games"...haha

But dont get me wrong. The 2600K is a really capable chip for the cash. Apart from (very) limited PCIE bandwidth, that platform isn't bad. Will it stand up to a 4 channel RAM setup with a 6 core? I think not... but then how much more expensive would that be anyways right?

With computers there's always something better in 3 months. The decision must be made. Buy now, or wait. And sometimes, the new part is worse than the old one cough, cough... ehem.

OK I could not take it I just ordered a few items to hold me over until X79/2011 is ready

Intel 2700k

Corsair 500R

I have some spare parts I'll use

Intel X25M G2 120GB SSD
ASUS 550Ti
Silverstone Strider 1500 (lol)

System will replace a older PC in HTPC duties ;)

I'm not loving the 550Ti but HEY! HTPC! What an HTPC indeed!!!!!! More of a gamer rig hehehe.

I think all those are great parts and that 2700 WILL be nice and cool (though as you know you don't need that level of cooling). Supposedly the 2700 is higher bin so GL with your OC. I love that mobo btw it is so solid I've built with it. Great choices enjoy the system.

Yeah it will be retired to a HTPC after I do my best to burn the house down playing with it first :) Its is 100% overkill for a HTPC but I was so so so bored with overclocking my 980 :)

I did almost get a 2nd 550Ti to Sli it but i was worried it would mess up in the HTPC role
