Guys, im a bit confused from what ive read that many cheap asus boards need to updated the bios to work on Intel Haswell Refresh CPU.

Ive done a research that an H81M-D PLUS will work on i3 4150 if you update bios.

And its here: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H81MD_PLUS/HelpDesk_CPU/

If you noticed the CPU support list on ASUS site that i3 4160 is no need to update bios to work. is this true?

Because i3 4150 is older than i3 4160

Please help me.

I had no problems with these boards and new i3. Maybe it needs it for new microcode but it should at least boot with these CPUs. I also doubt there are any boards in stores right now with old BIOS without haswell refresh support. These BIOSes have already ~4 months.

Tnx for quick reply.

What your saying is that you have H81M-D PLUS and tested on new haswell refresh CPU?

What is your CPU model?

I was buying some sets for clients at work. Couple PCs were sold on H81 and H97 boards from these latest series and all were working fine with G3258 and 2-3 different i3. As I said, I doubt you will get new board with old BIOS. These cheaper boards are so popular that they are not staying long in the warehouses.

I had an issue with my h81m ds2 gigabyte motherboard. What I'll always recommend after that is before dismantling your current pc, set up a usb stick ready to flash the bios. If it doesn't boot properly just flash and away you go.
