Hard Drive Speed

is this about the speed my hard drive should go? it's two 40 gig ultra133 maxtors on a raid 0 (80 gigs)... are there any tweaks i could do to make it run faster?

ok, it seems no one really knows how fast my hard drive should be going... could someone post their score and tell me what kinda drive ya got?

well, i believe I was getting about 75 m/s peak and around 40 average with my 2xIBM 60 gxp 40 gigs each (ata100, 7200rmpm). That was RAID 0 on IwillXP333-R onboard hpt 372 controller. My sandra disk scores for various partitions on the array were anywhere from 38000 to 42000.

I forget what stripe size i was using ( i think 16kb or 32kb) and cluster sizes varied on diff. partitions from 4kb up to 16 kb.

so, i would say thats a little low as an initial guess. sorry i can't do another hdtach bench now because my drives are off to IBM for replacements
