With all that aside, can anyone tell me what HDCP is and how it will affect me when I go to Vista?

Will I:

Be able to watch burned copies of movies?

Will it be like certain WMA files where I have to go line and download the license, and then after I format a certain amount of times, be screwed?

Does it affect MPG files?

What DOES it affect, if none of those.

In Vista when you play media (and possibly some games) that have been made to be premium content you will need to have a monitor that has HDCP to see them at their full resolution or at all. It should not affect movies that you have burned because these do not contain the trigger that vista will use to recognize premium content.
