This bios is blocking me from adding GPU's and overclocking,Anyone know of the best bios to install??? Thanks in advance

Ok we need the motherboard's model number in order to do our research. Is the motherboard from a pre-built system? Before we go any further; if some of the features in the current bios is greyed out/locked out, you will not be able to use any bios that will unlock it.

Ok here we go:

1) Prebuilt systems has proprietary bios. If they are greyed out/locked out, there is noway to unlock that. You can update the bios with a new bios from the manufacturer's site. However again I can guarantee it will also be locked.

2)In order to run a PCIE video card, you need to go into the bios and disable the onboard video adapter. Again if the setting is greyed out it means it's locked and cannot be adjusted.

3) If you want to install a 64bit os, you must be sure your CPU is 64bit otherwise the OS will not run.

From what you posted: The D2.80ghz it currently has is a 64bit chip:
http://ark.intel.com/products/27512/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-820-(2M-Cache-2_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB)

Now you stated you have an: E2.40ghz which I believe you are referring to the E6600 which is also a 64bit chip:
http://ark.intel.com/products/27250/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E6600-(4M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)

If you want to swap CPU's be sure your bios will accept it. Refer to your owner's manual to see what CPU your motherboard will accept.

Now your last question: ,so say this bios will not run anything over a 250w psu I don't understand, but I'm going to try and decipher it:

If your prebuilt system has a 250watt power supply, that is probably the minimum required for that particular system. Adding more hardware will need more wattage to run the newly installed upgrades such as you mentioned. 650watt power supply will be more than enough. Be sure the new power supply is a quality built brand name unit and not a generic $20 junk one.

1st: Don't necro old threads. Make a fresh one.
2nd: Unlikely you will be able to unlock features.

However, I have unlocked my own BIOS from gateway.
What you need is Bios_tools.zip.....

I have no download link, and it was hard to find, but it contains the tools to mod BIOS's.

No one here is going to be held responsible if it bricks your board though.
