Good Day,

Can anyone help me with my P5E3 premium mobo.
I can't seem to run my ram over 1333mhz.
I've manually set my dram voltage to 1.5v but when I set my ram to 1600mhz, it does not post.
I've updated my bios.
I've tried 1600mhz and 1866mhz ram rated at 1.5v.
I've populated all slots but even if I use just a pair, I get the same result.
what should I do?
I'm running a Q6600 @ 9 x 400mhz.

p.s. I've read people are successful in running 16gb but even if I try 1 4gb chip, it does not post.
any ideas?

What RAM are you trying to overclock, the 1066MHz OCZ in your sig? IMO getting that to 1333MHz is a pretty good overclock. I'm guessing you would need to loosen the timings a lot to get to 1600MHz. Might need more volts too. Or 1333 is the max...

Can you post a CPUz screenshot with Memory and SPD tabs with your RAM at 1333?

Hahaha...

The sig is outdated. I've updated it now :)
I'm trying to run G.Skill Ripjaws 1866 at it's stock speed of 1866mhz but I can only get it to run at 1333mhz on this board.
This is what I can get.

Are you manually setting the timings or are they on Auto. Due to that board's age I'd guess it can't set higher timings automatically.

Try setting the DRAM frequency to 1600 and the timings to 9-9-9-28.

if I set it to auto, the timings go to 9 10 9 28 which is stock for this type of ram.
I've tried setting it manually and on auto but once I try 1600 or higher, it does not post.

Is your kit an original Ripjaws or is it a RipjawsX?

Is it two kits of this this?: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-14900cl9d-4gbxm

You are running a newer memory kit on an older platform... You may need more than 1.5v to run DDR3-1600. The original 775 DDR3 kits were ~1.8v(+).

If you check the side label of one of the G.Skill sticks.... There is a date and ic code... Just need the first 8 numbers... The last numbers are the serial number which doesn't really matter.

For example on one of my kit the numbers are 11041040... "11"=2011 "04"=4th week of 2011 and "1040"=PSC ic

If you check your kit(s)... It would be helpful to gage how they might run.

They are newer. RipjawsX.
This is starting to make sense now.
This is something I definitely need to look into.
problem is, I don't know anyone who has older 1600mhz ddr3 running 1.8v or higher that I can test. :-(

I have an ASUS X48 chipset motherboard (Rampage Extreme) and some newer RipjawsX kits... I'll try and test them on that platform to see how they might run??

You should still check the date/ic code for your kits because G.Skill used different ic on many of their various kits and knowing which ic is helpful for setting timings above DDR3-1333.

I tested with this 2x2GB kit of G.Skill RipjawX (PSC ic):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=F3-17000CL9D4GBXL-_-20-231-449-_-Product

My settings:

FSB Strap: 333
Memory divider(multi): 1601

Performance Level: 9

Vcore: 1.3875v
VTT: 1.320v
MCH: 1.350v
DRAM: 1.65v

I would start with just one 2x2GB kit and set DRAM voltage at 1.65v... 9-9-9-24-2T.

You might need to loosen Performance level to 10?... Get things dialed in and then try to tighten up. I started at level 9 and then tighten up to level 8.

Your particular sample Q6600 may need different settings for Vcore, VTT and MCH.

FYI... 1800(+) to 2000 memory speeds were considered to be "massive" memory overclocks for the 775 platform. I find it quite challenging to run at 1800+ speeds while using just a dual-core cpu and 1GB high voltage sticks (2x1GB).

Just an update. I tried upping the voltage of my ram but things are still not going well.
what's weird is that, when setting my dram voltage to default, hwmonitor detects around 1.68v.
i tried setting it to 1.5v and 1.6v but it's as if nothing is changing, hwmonitor still detects the dram voltage at around 1.68v.
even at 1.68v default, i can't go higher than 1333mhz...

P5E3 Deluxe here. Running G.Skill Flares (PSC) @ 1866 @ 7-8-7-24 1T

Memory divider(multi): 1800

Performance Level: 6

Vcore: 1.55v
VTT: 1.360v
MCH: 1.350v
DRAM: 1.70v
