HI guys I am new in this forum and I want to know if you can help me to choose what CPU is better for gamming.

AMD FX-6100.

or

AMD FX-4300.

FX-6100 has more cores (6) than FX-4300 vishera (4) but vishera is more expensive.

Thanks for Advance.

Greeting From Chile.

dont bother with the 6100, go with 4300 or 6300
in single threaded games it's a crap shoot.
post your rig specs and gamed you want to play and i am sure you will get a wealth of info.

Hi caddi daddi, I want to buy a fx-4300, Asus MB AMD M5A78L-M LX PLUS A/L/V (AM3+), Video AMD Radeon HD7750 1024MB GDDR5 Core Edition.

I hope run well Bf3, because with my old amd x2 4600+ ati 4850 runs like crap xD

Thanks in advance.

Definitely get a different motherboard, don't let the AM3+ compatible specs and low price pull you in. There are better options out there for a few dollars more.

the board is on the weak side and poor cooling, if you plan on clocking it.
you really want a 9 series chipset and vrm cooling.
also read the specs, you want at least 6+2 power phasing, asus does not list that spec on the site for that board.

It is always a good idea to spend once if possible instead of having to buy twice as many do nowdays when thinking newer AMD FX processors.

Pretty good board for money.

This board is less expensive and I do not like it, but many do, so I put it here as a choice. In the end you will only get what you pay for.

Probably best cpu, ALL things considered, for a newer AMD gaming setup.

To push to the 4.5Ghz cpu speed for better gaming performance. This cooler should do well if you have a case that is 7.5 inches wide across the top from side cover to other side cover.

@RGone I think you meant to link to the 6300 not the 6200 which is a Zambezi part.

Please do your self a favor and dont buy that M5A78 I have one and have spent a substantial amount of time modifying it to increase its capacity and I still have to underclock the CPU to get it to run without throttling. At face value it looks great but the poor quality bios, and underwhelming power management just do not make up for the cost savings.

I also have to strongly urge you to stay away from any bulldozer based CPU. I have used 2 different ones, but now that Vishera is out they are absolutely not worth it for there retail price.

The gigabyte 970-UD3 is also a solid motherboard if you have no plans of running SLI. It has essentially the same VRM as the 990Xa-UD3 and the 990FXa-UD3. I have owned and used both of those boards with great success, and I plan to order the 970 tomorrow in fact.

Yes, it was days ago and I don't know what the heck was wrong with me. Linked FX-6200 not the FX-6300. Oh well that would have been better than an FX-4100. Hehehe. DA over and out.

If you check out my thread i'm OC'ing the 8350 right now on the M5a99x Evo. I've had this board for a while now and it's super easy to use, very strong with everyday use and gaming!

I've not had any issues in any way with the board and can't say anything bad about it!

@Fugu yes nice little Mobo you got there 6+2 Vrm's is that the (R2.0) Version? Another Asus Mobo to look out for would be a M5A88-V EVO if you could still find one the VRM's are 8+1 on those with Heat Sinks! AJ.
