Sad story, everyone makes a mistake some time. Worst case, you've learnt what not to do.
I am sure i have killed CPU's before, but never anything important.
I managed a multi kill a few years back. Running a 775 Pentium D CPU on a cheap MSI board. I was overclocking for fun, suddenly all the fun stopped. One of the caps, or resisters of what ever they are, under the CPU in the middle of the socket had burnt out, taking a worthless CPU with it. Its more fun to kill them, when no big loss is taken.
