IC7 and ram speed setting

Just got this mb new. Trying to get some performance from it. But Im getting a lockup when i change the CPU/Ram clock ratio to less than 1:1

I've got a P4 3.0 O'ced at 3.4.

Got two sticks of ram one is 2700 and the other is 3200 both cas 2.5. Theyre working very stable at 227.

Should have said, lock up of the bios. ie not even a post

I am afraid if that is a 2.4A Nothwood you may have to move down on the FSB

Whats BIOS do you use? Its a known issue on the first few releases of it. (1.1 and 1.2 i think)

I have the Max 3 myself, had exactly the same problem with older BIOSes

Update your bios to revision 15. You can use the flash menu from ABIT dowloadable from here http://www.abit-usa.com/downloads/bios/flashmenu.php.

Have updated bios, and it says the same Award v6.00PG, date 30/3/04. That sounds pretty current to me.

But I still have the problem.
Strange that it runs fine with a clock of 227, but when I try to step it down it wont.

I did get it to post with the bios update. but it hangs before loading the OS.


Im out of ideas.
