if you had $450?

If you had $450 to spend on a mobo, cpu, and video card what would you do, no accessories needed. retail cpu to include the cooling. this isn't for overclocking and is for some form of gaming. I'm just curious to see what you guys have to say.

I want to play Counterstrike Source, and battlefield 2 mostly, just something faster than a 1700+ oc'd to 2.4 ghz, and 9800 pro

I am curious on why you recommend him the card he already has? I would definately go for socket 939. 3000+ venice, someone help me out here with the mobo and video card.

well i would pick the 939 DFI SLI deluxe but as for vid card...dont know.

he still would need a heatsink, so it would pry it up a bit more. so he would pry be better off with the retail version instead.

I still dont recommend goin the 754 path, cause its been pretty much done for a while. 939 still has quite a bit of life left, its more "futureproof"

this setup leaves me about $188 for the video card...I'd really like to only spend $150 for one that would surpass the 9800 pro.... what do you guys think about the mobo cpu combo and how it would perform next to what I already stated the 1700+, 8rda+...

Whats what I thought... But the 754 is going to be the moble platform now (or so I've been told). Still might be better to go 939 and pci-e.

Total $240.
Refurb radeon x800xl= $230
Total= $450
