My chipped 9700np runs great with a 9700 bios up to 367/652 (haven't tested it beyond that, but it is very stable with no artifacts). I have a temperature sensor right next to the core and it reads, on load, 56.7C and idle of 44.1C. By the way, i'm not using stock cooling. I've purchased a thermaltake cooling solution which are two big aluminum plates that cool nicely. I'm going to remove the existing small fan with a tmd fan soon. Hopefully that'll cool the core down a bit.

Card has the hynix chips. This is the best OC I can get out of it. Lots of people here are getting 300/600 out of a retail ATI 8500. How? Is it the chips that are the problem? And the ATI 1009 Bios is the best choice I've tried. I tried other bios's with the same test settings (3Dmark01), and clock rates and the 1009 bios was the only one capable of these speeds without rendering artifacts. Also noticed in powerstrip that my AGP aperature is set to 128. Is that right?

5/06/03 new mods

Built a custom HS/F and Ram sinks....hehe takes up two pci slots oh well I never used em anyway. Clocks went up from 295/550. And Zero artifact's now-even when pushed to crash cl speeds. Oh, and I dont use powerstrip anymore. Kept getting checksum errors after OS crashes. Trying Rage 3D Tweak. Still can't figure out how some cards are running with RAM clocks over 300?
