I just got a Xeon E3-1230V3 chip...Amazon price $256.
It's 4 core, 8 thread, 3.3 GHZ, 3.5 GHz boost.
A comparable i7 processor is i7-4770 (non K)...Amazon price $307.
So, for $51 cheaper, I got a chip that performs as well...minus an iGPU. As this system already had a GPU it didn't bother me.
For folks out there looking at different builds, check out the Xeon family of processor...there may be $$ to save!
