I got a new battery for my 3rd generation ipod. It is lithium polymer and is 850mah compared to the stock lithium ion 600mah one. It should last a good long time. Now, the ipod battery display shows it as fully charged for a while. I don't know how long because I charge it at my computer every night. That was a lot better than the old one that was fading. Some days of listening most of the day it would go close to dead.
If you have an ipod with a stock battery, even if it is not worn out, I suggest you get a lithium polymer one on ebay for less than $15. They last a lot longer and hold a greater charge.
