So, I had a bad experience during several electrical blackouts on my house while I'm downloading, which eventually damaging my HDD

And I finally came up with an idea to temporarily store my downloaded files on a flash drive during progress and move it to the HDD after it's done.

I'm currently running a crappy mobo for a holdover, and I'm afraid that I'll end up with some damaged files on the flash drive because I'm pulling too much on the USB.

So, will powering my flash drive straight from the 5v PSU line be okay?
I'll be definitely using an own built adapter cable to do this task.

Thanks in advance :)

that's what I thought, I just don't feel confident :D

thanks for confirming it, Bob

I think we can close this thread, and I can start cutting some wires now :D
