Question, is it worth it to spend the extra $100 or so to get a 1TB 970 evo plus over a 500gb 970 evo plus? The 1TB can hold twice the amount of games and is slightly faster than 500gb but it also costs over $100 more so is the extra $100 really worth it? When I can get two 500gb 970 evo plus's for the price of one pretty much?

If you're saying it's the same price for a 1TB drive vs 2x500Gb I'd go with the single drive every time.

One of the main reasons the 1TB is actually preferred, is not just the size and speed, but it's TCO, which is in direct relation to it's size, imo.
I needed raid so I went with the 500's to save money. I would have loved a pair of the TB's everywhere but I just don't have the data.

If you buy two 500GB, that's ~$180; ~$10 cheaper. The 1TB drive is going to be more expensive as you're getting more storage and it appears the larger drives run faster than the smaller ones (correct me if I am wrong). Do you need >500GB of space? If so and do not want to spend ~$190, there are cheaper alternatives. I doubt you're going to notice the difference in read and write speeds unless you copy large files regularly. Options like the following...

Yeah and the evo plus is about $20 more.

$109.99 for the 500gb https://www.newegg.com/samsung-970-...ung_970_evo_plus_500gb-_-20-147-742-_-Product

$219.99 for the 1TB - https://www.newegg.com/samsung-970-...e=samsung_970_evo_plus-_-20-147-743-_-Product

I was thinking of getting the evo plus since it's better bang for my buck and worth the extra $20 but I'm undecided between the 500gb and 1TB.

The games that I play (World Of Warcraft,Wolfenstein,Witcher 3, Skyrim) are about 300-400 GBs in size. So I'm not sure if I should buy the 500gb and fill most of it or buy the 1TB for slightly higher performance. But I do have a 4TB hard drive that I keep most of my games on. So I technically can install one game at a time on my SSD and move the rest to my 4TB drive. But, that'd kinda be a pain in the butt...

I missed the ‘plus’ in your post. Sorry about that. I still do not see your need for the Samsung brand of nvmes. That’s why I suggested the P1 or 660p since money appears to be a concern. There is a 2TB Intel 660p for ~$200. But if you are set on Samsung, I’d stick with 1 drive for simplicity. It really depends on you whether the $100 more for the 1TB is a better value. The value of that $100 is something we can’t answer for you.

IMHO, getting the P1 or 660p is the better value. I would be unable to tell the difference in boot and game loading times between the two.

For such price and 1 TB, I would go with single drive.

Worth it is up to you. The only reason not two m.2 nvme drives is if your system wont run them full speed.
