I have a Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H board with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ CPU.
Yesterday when I powered it up I got a message saying

PHP:
K8 NPT DATA CHANGE...UPDATE NEW DATA TO DMI!

It hangs on this and goes no further. What does it mean and how can I update the DMI?

Start off by removing HDD and CD devices and see if it still gets those errors.

Also try and change "plug n play OS" to no and reset ESCD on next boot.

If you still get the error, drop down to a single stick of ram, and try a different video card (PCI style preferably)

If you no longer get the error, add devices back one at a time until you do.

EDIT: Just found the link that QI posted LOL. Yeah, big difference on when the problem occurs, if it is during POST it is mobo related, during windows, you will need to fix your OS install.

I don't think the probme is OS related, from Google-ing about it sounds like it might be the CMOS and battery need looking at.

When the problem occurs is what is the cause, hence why I focused on BIOS issues rather than Windows issue, if it passes POST and then occurs it is a windows issue.
