Okay. Once i get DSL, i just KNOW i'm goingto want to directly connect to some people. its just the way i am.

So, wihtout specialised equipment, can i do this?

i've seen the VPN's wit hdialup, but thats not what i would like...

is it a standard option to connect to a workgroup at someone elses house if i can set up the protocols and whatnot on both ends?

i would have DSLmodem>100base hub > computers 1 through X,

whereas the standard setup of most people i would want to connect to is

Cablemodem>hub>computers 1 through X

i want to hop on the workgroup and use it as if i was connected to that hub...is this possible?

It's easy, just set one computer to accept incoming vpn connections, then a computer on the other network to connect. There you go. Works great for lan parties if you get it setup right.

alright, i diddnt know if it worked as every instance i heard of use dialup. cool.
