After getting linux up and running I see the workgroup Mdkgroup which contains "localhost." Now I did make some files shared on the linux comp but that's about out, and I put MY workgroup under one of the network options. I'm just curious what this group is for, and why I don't know the password to get into the localhost's files or whatever. Neither my regular user pass nor my root password will open it up.

localhost refers to your computer (or 127.0.0.1)

i'd guess its there just to show you easily, what things you have shared

as for not being able to access it... its probably just some config option (you using samba?)
