I need to upgrade the memory in my system but I have seen a lot of post saying that speed really does not matter for real world applications and I am now unsure which one to get.

Can I get some recommendations on which Memory I should buy if I only plan to run my system at stock speeds, and also a recommendation on which one would be good if I do want to overclock my system a bit? Thank You.

My Primary System has:

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

2 Years ago I bought this memory for my Primary system:

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B

After I bought it I realized 16GB was unnecessary to run games. The most I needed at the time was 8 GB so I got the same motherboard/cpu and I split my memory so I had 8 GB in each system.

Recently I bought a New Video Card and started looking at the system requirements for EQN Landmark, TESO, Wildstar and I realized that I need to definitely need to start running 16GB in my system.

SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100351VXSR Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

I know my motherboard can handle 32 GB ( 4 x 8GB ) but I do not wish to spend that much for memory at this time. I wish to buy 2 x 8GB to my main system, then i will put all the 4 x 4 GB I originally bought in my 2nd system. Later I will just add another 2 x 8 GB of the same stuff to my main system to bring it to 32.

If memory speed does not matter then I am leaning towards getting the Crucial 1333 at the top of the page which is only $122, but the 1600 of the other brands is only $10 more. I bought this specific CPU so eventually I can overclock it......Which memory should I get? I am trying to keep the price of my 16 GB under $180, otherwise I would just be better off buying 32 GB.

I would get something 1866 as price is about the same as better 1600 and there is already quite big gap in memory bandwidth. Games are not really using fast memory but some other applications do.
My brother is running 32GB Patriot Viper III 2400 CL10 on Z77X-UD5H without any issues but of course lower clocked memory will be fine too.
Optimal for CPUs that are not overclocked high is something 2x8GB 1866 9-10-9 1.50-1.65V ( Geil cost $145 ). You can probably live with 1600 too but I wouldn't take 1333.
