Hi guys

So i'm noob, and this is the first time i upgrade ram memory, i had 2x2 gigs of ddr3 ram at 1300 mhz, and now i took those out and replaced with 8 gigs of a single stick of transcend 2rx8 ddr3 1600 ram, problem is, the bios does not recognized that memory. In fact, i get the blue screen "A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown...." so windows won't start.

Can't understand why, and btw i'm sure all 4 dimms are woking propely.

My mobo is a p7p55 lx, gpu gtx 560 ti and cpu i5 650 3.2ghz

:welcome: to OCF!

Your MOBO is a P7P55: it does OFFICIALY support only 1066MHz RAM frequency :)

Even if it often works at higher frequency, going for RAM at higher speed than 1066MHz (like your 1600 MHz RAM stick) is considered as overclocking and may not be supported by your MOBO.

In this case, your MOBO can handle 1333 MHz but not 1600 MHz.

You can go in your BIOS to lower the RAM speed until it stops crashing :D

An other explanation would be a defective RAM stick, but you should begin with the frequency :)

Wow -- the Asus QVL for P7P55 LX memory includes this:

Crucial BL12864BE2009.8SFB3(EPP)
9-9-9-28
2.0V

Does anybody make DDR3 chips with an absolute maximum that high? The most I find is 1.975V.
