I was wondering if anyone had ever come across an issue where a system would not POST with a certain ram stick in a particular slot?

I just changed my daily rig and my system would not post with one of my sticks in slot 3.

4x4GB Patriot G2 matched memory kit.

I moved it to a different slot and works fine. This ram is from my previous daily rig so I know it is 100% working.

Motherboard is a MSI Z77A-G45 with 3770k @ stock :chair:

The system is working fine with the ram in a new slot, just curious as to the experience of others.

Yeah, he's got all four slots full.

Baxter, that's weird dude. Normally when its like that either the stick or the slot is dead.

I would clean the RAM connector with alcohol for a start.

Edit: I had a similar issue a few weeks ago.

it is a new board, so I don't think that was the issue.

maybe there was an issue and just by removing and inserting another stick solved it...

May have just not been seated right. As long as it works, go with it!
