this is more of a basic electronics question. I yanked the lcd display and two thermal probes out of my enermax fan controller for use with my new rig. since this is a watercooled rig, i dont need so many fans. So i have just the screen, 4 pin molex connector, and two thermistors. turns out one was flat out broken, and the other reads wrong temps. i imagine this is because there is no longer the other half of the cirucuit board containing the fan controllers, and too much current is getting to the thermistor.

So i need to add a resistor. duh. but how can i tell if the lcd reading is off linearly? Also, how can i know for sure how much resistance i need? perhaps this will end up being too much work to make it worth it.
